What is Beauty?
Good morning everyone! Or might I say buongiorno! I've been learning Italian with a guy from Italy, and I must say it has been quite intriguing! Welcome to Wisdom Wednesday! Based on the feedback I received regarding how often I should post, the general consensus was one to two times a week. After all, I hate a flooded inbox just like you. Today's topic is beauty! What exactly is beauty? Is it how pretty or photogenic you are? Could it be how you dress or how confident you look? Beauty can mean a lot of different things to different people, but I'll tell you what it means to me.
Beauty to me is determined by your character. You can be the most pretty or handsome person in the world, but if you are an egotistical rump hole, you are still ugly. The good thing is you don't have to stay that way, you can change any time you are ready. Kindness is one of the most beautiful things I've encountered. Have you ever been in traffic, and you are about to hit all of the orange and white barricades because no one will let you in, and then all of a sudden one person slows down and finally allows you to merge into the lane? Let me tell you, that person is beautiful! Did you know that statistics show aggressively changing lanes won't get you to your destination any faster than the person who patiently waits in one lane? So why not take the opportunity today to just let someone merge? It's a simple kindness that can make a huge difference in someone's day.
You know what else is beautiful? Simplicity. The small things do matter. My first ex wasn't great, but he did do the small things. I might mention that my lips felt dry, and the next day he would be handing me a new tube of chapstick. And that was beautiful to me. I have a friend now who literally sends me a text every single morning telling me how amazing I am, and that only takes a little bit of thumb work, but makes an enormous difference in my day. Think of something small that you can do for someone or the person you love. You might be surprised at how great you make them feel.
Beauty is possible no matter what you look like. It might sound cliché, but beauty really is inside you. I believe we are all born blank slates, and change based on our life experiences, but it is possible to be kind. It is possible to do simple things to brighten someone's day. It is so rare these days to find true beauty, because everyone is so concerned about outer beauty, but with just a little bit of genuine effort, you can embody what it really means to be beautiful. What does beauty mean to you? Thank you so much for reading this blog or listening to the audio. I truly appreciate all of your support. And as always, I wish you nothing but love, happiness, and peace in your life.
